While at Belmont, Isabel participated in master classes with Kathryn Lewek, Carl Dupont, Nathan Gunn, Savannah Sokolnicki, Nancy Jones, and Katherine Ciesinski. Isabel studied French, Italian, and German language at Belmont, with emphasis on German. She supplemented her classroom studies by traveling to German-speaking countries for formal programs of music and language study in 2022 (Goethe Institute, Berlin DE), 2023 (American Institute of Musical Studies, Graz AT), and 2024 (Berlin Opera Academy, Berlin DE). In 2023, Isabel studied with Joanna Ruszala and Eric Trudel at the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria. There, she was honored to participate in a masterclass with Marzio Conti and the AIMS Festival Orchestra, and to perform in a number of showcases including “Women of Broadway” and “Suitcase Full of Melodies.” In 2024, Isabel traveled to Berlin to study with the Berlin Opera Academy, performing the role of Zweite Dame in Opernfest Berlin’s production of Die Zauberflöte, in addition to undertaking a role study of Pamina.
As a Belmont student, Isabel had many opportunities to perform and grow. Highlights of her time at Belmont included the role of Valencienne in the fully staged production of The Merry Widow and several key roles in Belmont Opera Scenes, including Amy in Little Women and Carolina from Il Matrimonio Segreto. She was honored to perform in the Keith B. Moore Classical Singers recital, and to be a part of the world premiere of Dr. Jeffery L. Ames’ oratorio Requiem for Colour.
Isabel served as President of the Belmont Opera Club, and was an active member of the Opera Theater program, the Oratorio Chorus, and the classical choral ensemble, Chorale. Now that she’s living in Columbus again, she continues to sing both at St. Timothy and Trinity United Methodist.
Outreach and education programs are very important to Isabel. She loves to share the joy of music with children, especially those who have limited access to arts education. As a Belmont student, Isabel volunteered as a character performer with The Wishes Foundation of Nashville, visiting schools, hospitals, and children’s community events. She served as a voice and piano instructor at Nashville’s W.O. Smith Music School. In Columbus, Isabel is the choir director and individual music coach for the Brian Muha Foundation’s Day School, which serves children living in poverty on Columbus’ West Side.
Isabel’s diverse performance experiences and commitment to music education reflect her belief in the transformative power of music. Whether performing on stage or engaging with the community, she is dedicated to sharing the joy of music with others.
